Introduction
Quality, safety and consistency are top concerns for us at Acadian Maple
Products. We believe very strongly in delivering a
top quality product that you can enjoy worry free. To achieve this goal
we have developed our Product Quality Assurance Program (PQA).
With this program we are able to adhere to and exceed our industry best
practices. Our PQA is a dynamic program with four main focuses:
1.
Ensuring only quality raw materials and products are procured.
We have developed a raw material and product procurement
program to ensure our raw materials and products are only sourced from dependable
suppliers/producers that adhere to their respective industry best practices.
2.
Continuous monitoring of CCP's within our processing and distribution
operations.
We are currently developing a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points
(HACCP) plan for our operation. The internationally recognized HACCP
plan is a custom designed program that creates a set of procedures and tools to maximize the safety
and quality of our finished product. A HACCP plan is designed to determine each place
in our food processing line where physical, chemical and biological hazards
may exist and to maximize the safety level and quality of the finished
product. In a HACCP compliant environment the risk of cross contamination or
other food safety issues are kept to an absolute minimum. A
functioning HACCP plan is amongst the best forms of food processing safety,
and consumers can be assured that if a particular plant is operating under
HACCP everything possible is being done to ensure a safe, top quality food.
3. Having
full product traceability throughout our supply chain.
All of our products are currently batch coded, bar
coded and scanned into a custom designed software program upon leaving our
facility to ensure we know where our products are. In the unlikely
event of a recall or quality issue we can quickly isolate, locate and call in
any affected product.
4.
Providing product specific information and data on our products.
We have designed commodity and product specific
specification sheets to deliver to our customers pertinent information on
each product. This helps to ensure proper handling, preparation and
storage of our products to maximize quality and ensure safe delicious foods.
With these items and the subsequent standard Operating Procedures manual
that our employees are given. Our valued employees and suppliers
know what to do, how to do it and what we expect in terms of product quality
