halifax explosion special

On the morning of December 6th, 1917, nearly 2,000 people died during the Halifax Explosion.  The bustling port was an important
staging point for convoys headed overseas to war-torn Europe.   Two ships, the Mont Blanc and the Imo, collided in the busy narrows of the harbour.  The Mont Blanc which was laden with nearly 3,000 tons fuel and high explosives, caught fire and exploded.  The subsequent explosion, the largest man made explosion prior to the nuclear bomb, devestated the city of Halifax, especially the North end.

The North End of Halifax is very different now, rebuilt and thriving, the North end is home to the Hydro Stones, the first English style row housing in North America and Canada's very first publicly assisted housing project.

To honour this great tragedy we are offering a free bag of our Halifax explosion medium roast coffee to anyone who places an order today.
